Dispute Report Shortlinking
Describe a feature you would like to have added to GmodStore
Today a PayPal phone rep informed me that dispute reports are now considered "Compelling Evidence", to which she credited my account for. At first I did not give her the dispute report, but I informed her that I was not given an opportunity to upload it to the case as it was instantly closed in the buyer's favour. I uploaded the dispute report to my webserver, and asked her to type out the link. She read the PDF, put me on hold, talked to the "back office", came back and told me that it's "Compelling Evidence."
What this tells us is that dispute reports fucking work! However the problem is actually transferring it to the PayPal rep via the phone. My idea is that we need dispute report shortlinking. It should generate a short, simple to read out URL that the PayPal rep can navigate to in order to view the dispute report. It should be secure so that nobody can view them without some kind of authorization.
Authorization idea
The link should be extremely short and easy to read out. Therefore I think the link should just be like:
https://gmodstore.com/dispute/<DisputeID>
Obviously this is vulnerable to anyone just typing in a random dispute ID, which is why there needs to be a password system:
- The content creator navigates to the dispute report on their team dashboard
- They click the "Share" button
- A password is generated using a dictionary of short, random words, for example:
shell coral big joint friend gas everyday ass
, which is shown to the content creator, along with the report's link. - A one hour time frame is given for the following steps:
- The content creator reads out the link to the PayPal rep
- The PayPal rep navigates to the link, where the page looks all nice and official
- The content creator reads out the password
- The PayPal rep enters the password, completes a captcha and submits the form
- The password is immediately deleted/revoked/invalidated, and the PDF is transferred to the PayPal rep
- If the PDF was not opened after the timer has ran out, the password is immediately deleted/revoked/invalidated
Can't you already upload documents to a dispute?
Yeah, but sometimes you literally don't get an option to, like in my case.
It's well-known that you're more likely to win a case over the phone anyway.
